Guava Bread

My friend Ute and I walked to a local bakery to pick up a variety of sweet breads. One was filled with cream cheese and sprinkled with coarse sugar. One was filled with a strawberry jam and some kind of cream. The final one was filled with a guava jam. Locally it’s called guayaba.

So. Freaking. Delicious!

Picture this–sitting around a table with friends, drinking locally grown coffee, and eating a piece of sweet bread with guava jam. A light breeze blows by. You look up and see the clouds descending on the mountains, blocking the peak from view. As many shades of green that exist are all around you, interrupted only by bright tropical flowers sprinkled throughout. A full sensory experience of the local culture and country.

A unique kind of communion, much like the Quaker tradition practices. Eating together with friends, enjoying the simple gift of life.

These slow moments are where life begins to make sense.

Thanks for making this a part of your day!
