I’ve been in Costa Rica for one week now, and I’ve noticed a few things seem to be loved no matter the culture:
- A smile
- A hug
- A buy-one-get-one deal
Wednesday is BOGO day at one of the local frozen yogurt shops! So my friend Victoria (read her story in the EMPOWERED journal), my friend Jenny (one of the FSM staff), and I drove up to Yoba after the mission programs ended and got in line for BOGO fro-yo.
We got a flavor called carbon, which tastes like a mix between pineapple and banana to me, but is colored black with charcoal. I added coconut flakes, chocolate, dragonfruit, and peanuts to mine. Victoria added mostly fruit. Jenny added mostly chocolate.
Delicious!
In some ways it was very similar to a fro-yo place in the United States. For example, toppings included strawberries, granola, gummy worms, candy pieces, and cookies. But in other ways, it was very different! There were more toppings of local fruits and vegetables. They weighed the cup before you added toppings, not after.
Regardless of location, I love frozen yogurt. And I love a BOGO deal!
