The Story Behind Abide

In high school, I had a solid devotional routine, and faith was the one thing that made sense to me. College shifted that routine as my ministry studies and frequent worship services replaced my personal devotions. As an adult, my devotional life has evolved—sometimes focused on Scripture, sometimes journaling or simply crying out to God.

After my Sabbatical two years ago, I stopped calling it “devotional time” and began calling it “abiding,” inspired by John 15. I came to understand the Holy Spirit in a new way and truly grasped what it means to “abide” in God’s love. I began to hear from God daily—not audibly, but undeniably.

Cyndi Staudt, on a similar journey, created “Date Night With Jesus” and taught other women to do the same. When we realized we shared this experience, we knew we couldn’t be the only ones. Despite decades of pursuing Jesus, something had been missing—until it clicked.

This is how the Abide Women’s Conference was born: out of a desire to help women explore deeper questions like “What is my purpose?” and “Who is God leading me to become?” We’re thrilled you’re joining us on this journey to abiding!
